It’s an all too common dilemma for a person attempting to work through an eating disorder. Do you feel that no matter what you do, that you’re still “not enough”? Do you watch yourself go through your day in an attempt to “not make waves” so that you can please others and avoid being judged by them only to end up negatively judging yourself? Going it alone isn’t easy. When life is hard, it’s nice to have a friendly face to turn to. Here, you’ll have a safe place to leave your guarded secrets and relieve yourself of that burden.
I’ll be there to answer your questions (and your phone calls!). Together, step by step, you’ll learn coping strategies and practical tools to take with you outside of the office. I’ll help you get up when you fall, which you will, because no one is perfect and I won’t expect you to be. Just getting a grip is the place to start.

I’ve been in practice for more years than I care to remember. Then again, I started very young! Over the years I’ve watched new theories and techniques come and go. Some burned bright for a while and then faded. For the most part, they were all of some value and in certain circumstances of great value and those have endured. This is mentioned because, as these new approaches have been added, the broader the scope of help for people in need has become. Whether it be counseling , coaching or medication, improvements continue to be made.
What time and experience has taught me is that there isn’t one approach that fits for all but finding the one that DOES fit makes a world of difference in a person’s life. That is what therapy is about, finding the right fit. The right fit with the approach, the rapport with the therapist and the right time for you in your life to want to be in therapy. I may not be the right fit for you but once you and I figure out what you want and need, we can find someone who does have skill.
The decision to begin therapy can be challenging, or even feel paralyzing. Often making the first appointment may follow the unsuccessful attempts to manage difficult life circumstances, alone. Time will pass whether we act or not. In one, three or five years you and I will be one, three or five years older. If you weren’t too stuck in your fears or anxiety to dream, what would you ask for? What can be done in that amount of time? Are you ready to find out?
Ultimately, life is wonderful and problematic at the same time. Don’t allow the struggles to linger and use the wonderful part as a platform on which to build. Therapy isn’t only for problems. It’s a place to improve a life that you’re already happy with. Therapy is about growing and taking the next step. It’s a place where you can let down your guard and talk about your dreams, hopes and wants without judgment yet get honest straightforward feedback in a safe environment.
Over the years, literally several thousand people have come seeking help. Some were grappling with whether or not to take a promotion that would significantly change their life, while others were trying desperately to find enough significance to hold on to life. Some want to start a family while others question what would happen if they decided to get out. Agreed, there are a lot of differences to the concerns that people come to talk about. Still across all backgrounds, rearing and socioeconomic groups there has been a constant, people want to be heard and accepted.
